Challenges & Goals

Atari teamed up with developer Graphite Lab to create qomp2, a narrative adventure-puzzler that pays homage to the classic Pong while serving as the sequel to the indie hit qomp.

To promote the title, Atari turned to UberStrategist to craft a PR campaign that would carry the game from its announcement all the way through to its launch. During the 6-month campaign, we aimed to capture the attention of both nostalgic fans and a new generation of players.

Strategic Approach

We knew qomp2 had the potential to be a viral sensation thanks to its clever blend of self-aware humor and nods to the original Pong. Our strategy was to lean into this charm to captivate gamers and drive anticipation for the game’s release.

Our PR approach included a series of creative and playful media alerts, press releases, and feature stories crafted to resonate with both press and fans. We also ensured qomp2 made a splash at major tradeshows like gamescom and PAX West, giving it the visibility it needed to stand out.

Results

Our efforts paid off, with qomp2 exceeding expectations and bouncing into the spotlight, capturing the attention of global press and influencers alike.

Coverage from major outlets like GamesRadar+, Rock Paper Shotgun, TechRadar Gaming, and Destructoid helped cement its reputation.

By the end of the campaign, qomp2 had secured its place as a standout title, winning over both press and players. Game, set, match.
