Challenges & Goals

Atari came to the ÜberStrategist influencer marketing team for a month-long campaign to announce qomp 2, their sequel to the 1972 hit Pong. They aimed to generate buzz and stir buyer interest by reaching content creators across YouTube, Twitch, and Discord.

They also requested that we help create a channel for qomp 2 in the Official Atari Discord. The channel would allow content creators to engage with each other regarding the game and for the ÜberStrategist and Atari teams to promote the brand.

Strategic Approach

To drum up excitement for the 52-year-old sequel to Pong, we partnered with Atari content creators to showcase qomp 2 on their channels before launch, offering game keys for giveaways.

To coincide with the announcement and launch, we invited creators to join Atari’s official Discord. This exclusive influencer-only space gave them direct access to other creators, ÜberStrategist, and the Atari team, where we shared early access, made announcements, ran contests, and engaged on a more personal level.

Results

The introduction of the influencer-only space was met with great excitement. Many creators appreciate that there is now a dedicated space for them and that they have direct communication with the Atari team.

On the content creation front, the campaign resulted in 58 pieces of content that generated over 400,000 impressions. Notable retro streamer Mike Matei showcased the game prior to release, and other prominent streamers such as TrishaHershberger, and CamillaPanda showcased it on their channels. This allowed qomp 2 to reach its target audience and excite retro fans about the return and remake of Pong.
