KingsIsle, a proven MMO hitmaker known for family-friendly games, turned to UberStrategist to announce the EU launch of Wizard101. The challenge— we had just weeks to prepare a strategy for its debut on Steam outside North America.
With time running out, we had to quickly capture EU players’ attention through English-language press, as localization wasn’t available. To add to the pressure, a last-minute technical issue delayed the launch, threatening to derail press coverage.
To execute quickly and strategically, UberStrategist leaned on its relationships with MMO and PC gaming press, which had been established with other MMO clients.
To maximize the potential of press coverage, we pre-seeded the news under embargo, carefully selecting journalists with whom we had built relationships and sending personalized messages. This approach was instrumental in making the press more open to covering KingsIsle and giving Wizard101 the EU debut it deserved.
Through our carefully thought-out strategic approach, UberStrategist successfully navigated the challenges to generate significant awareness for Wizard101’s EU launch.
We secured major coverage with some of the most relevant PC gaming and MMO outlets for the EU audience, including PC Gamer, MMORPG, MassivelyOP, MMOs, MMORPG PL (Poland), Zona MMORPG (Spain), and more.
Our campaign resulted in 15 pieces of coverage, including five from Tier 1 outlets.
