Innovative cloud-gaming platform LiquidSky hired UberStrategist to lead its launch out of stealth mode with a dual B2B and B2C marketing campaign. As a pioneer in Desktop-as-a-Service technology, LiquidSky needed to differentiate itself from predecessors like OnLive and establish credibility in both gaming and tech spaces.

Our goal was to highlight LiquidSky’s key strengths—zero proprietary hardware requirements and a rapidly growing user base—to drive media awareness, attract investors, and position the platform as a game-changer in cloud gaming.

We developed a strategic outreach campaign targeting both consumer and business press to showcase LiquidSky’s innovation. By emphasizing the platform’s accessibility and hands-on capabilities, we secured coverage across gaming, tech, and investment-focused media.

Beyond securing high-profile news placements, we leveraged LiquidSky’s momentum to build credibility with investors. This comprehensive PR approach helped propel LiquidSky’s rapid growth and market legitimacy.

Results

Our campaign generated over 200 pieces of press coverage, including media placements in major outlets such as Time Magazine, Fortune, Yahoo Finance, VentureBeat, PC Gamer, IGN, Engadget, AListDaily, and Huffington Post. The coverage reached a potential audience of over 600 million, solidifying LiquidSky’s presence in the cloud gaming space.

Following its public launch, LiquidSky successfully closed a $4 million seed round with investors including Samsung Next Ventures, Sun Microsystems co-founder Scott McNealy, and former AOL Time Warner executive Bill Raduchel. The platform rapidly grew to serve millions of users and was ultimately acquired by Walmart.
