Challenges & Goals

Misc Games, a developer specializing in fishing simulation games, partnered with UberStrategist to generate publicity for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launch of Fishing: North Atlantic. The campaign also included support for an upcoming DLC release.

We sought to expand coverage beyond traditional gaming press by targeting outdoor sporting, commercial fishing, and Canadian tourism media. By securing high-impact placements, we aimed to maximize visibility and reach new audiences.

Strategic Approach

We kicked off the campaign with an exclusive breaking news story in Tier 1 outlet Screen Rant to announce the console launch. To sustain momentum, we engaged diverse media verticals, securing coverage across gaming, outdoor, and regional press.

We collaborated with a European agency and executed a global media push that secured extensive coverage. Our outreach strategy emphasized Fishing: North Atlantic’s realism and appeal to both simulation gamers and commercial fishing enthusiasts.

Results

The campaign delivered worldwide press coverage, including 17 Tier 1 features and dozens of placements in the U.S. and the U.K. Notable coverage included IGN, PC Gamer, Bleeding Cool, Major Nelson, The Xbox Hub, Gamasutra, and The Sixth Axis.

By tapping into niche audiences beyond gaming media, Fishing: North Atlantic reached global audiences with coverage in varied media verticals, including outdoor sporting, commercial fishing, and Canadian tourism. The campaign successfully expanded awareness to broad audiences and reinforced the game’s status as a leading commercial fishing simulator among both gamers and industry enthusiasts.
