The Ferrari Velas Esport Series is set to reach its climax on October 2nd, as the 2022 edition of the popular virtual motorsport competition travels to Italy in a quest to decide the overall champion and the newest recruit to the 2023 Scuderia Ferrari Velas Esports Team.
Having undertaken a rigorous program of activity to reach the Grand Final stage of the competition, on October 2nd, 2022, six aspiring esports stars will travel to Italy as they look to overcome their rivals and be crowned the Ferrari Velas Esports Series champion – and receive the honour of representing Ferrari on the world stage as an official Scuderia Ferrari Velas Esports Team member next season.
Set to take place on-site at both Maranello and the Ferrari Esports Studio in Italy, three qualified drivers from Europe, and three from North America (a first for the Ferrari Velas Esports Series), will be put through their paces in a series of assessments and racing activations over the course of the Grand Final Event. In order to have earned the right to take part on October 2nd, the six finalists have undertaken an intense qualification process to get to this stage. Starting with a hotlap qualification back in April, the drivers had to overcome tens of thousands of prospective rivals to set a time within the top percentile to progress into the qualification races – a series of eight standalone races per region for Europe and North America, where finishing positions dictate progression to the respective Regional Final events.
The final test that awaits the drivers will consist of a series of challenges and activations designed to test both nerve and skill. Assembled for the Grand Final will be a special panel of Ferrari judges, comprised of Arthur Leclerc, Ferrari Driver Academy team member and FIA Formula 3 driver, Tiziana Mecozzi, Ferrari Esports Manager, and 2021 Ferrari Esports Series winner, Kamil Pawlowski. The judging panel will assess the performance of the drivers during the course of the Grand Final, awarding points to each participant based on their overall performance and execution of the tasks laid out in front of them. The points will then be collated into an overall score after a race activity at the very end of the final to decide the Ferrari Velas Esports Series champion for 2022.
