With a jam-packed announcement lineup and sights set on gamescom, Atari called upon UberStrategist for the third consecutive year to support their efforts at gamescom. We answered that call by building Atari its own bespoke meeting area within the UberStrategist x IGDA Pavilion in the Business Hall at gamescom.
With four separate fully-branded rooms and six distinct seating areas, Atari was outfitted with an undeniably massive, eye-catching presence. Our core challenge was to build a fully booked press schedule for Atari and its attending subsidiary, Digital Eclipse, for the duration of the event.
Our press pitching efforts began early and often, starting immediately after the uproar of coverage following Atari’s major Summer Game Fest Play Days coverage. Riding that wave of success, we secured dozens of Tier 1 international press appointments within the first week of our pitching, including three separate unannounced projects.
Over the course of roughly 80 days, we grew and developed our pitching target lists, focusing on Tier 1 European press. In coordination with Atari and Digital Eclipse, we shared the confidential projects under embargo with hand-selected press in order to secure those desired appointments.
The dizzying whirlwind of gamescom preparations for Atari came to a momentous peak two weeks before gamescom when we established the final press schedules for each room in the Pavilion. As a result of our pitching and coordination efforts, we secured 176 total media appointments across both brands.
The scheduled attendees included influential media outlets like GameStar, Infobae, EDGE Magazine, IGN Benelux, The Mirror, Multiplayer, M! Games, Radio Times, Games.ch, Daily Mail, GamesRadar+, Digital Foundry, IGN Israel, Tom’s Hardware, and dozens of others.
This accomplishment greatly exceeded Atari executives' expectations, further reinforcing the multi-year, multi-service partnership with UberStrategist.
