Challenges & Goals

With a crowded release schedule and multiple game announcements, Atari turned to ÜberStrategist to manage impactful press events. We were tasked to handle four key engagements: GDC, PAX East, Summer Game Fest Play Days, and a press tour in London.

Our proactive strategy included strategic pitches to secure top-tier media participation and sustain excitement, ensuring an expanding guest list leading up to each event.

Strategic Approach

Before each event, we shared confidential, embargoed information with top press, creating a sense of urgency and exclusivity by targeting only the most influential outlets.

For GDC and PAX East, we began pitching in January to ensure we had “first dibs” on schedules before mass industry pitching began. This garnered interest from top-tier press and key influencers. The London press tour targeted Atari-enthusiast local press, while Play Days leveraged early outreach to Atari-friendly media contacts excited about upcoming projects.

Results

All events were executed flawlessly, resulting in impressive global coverage for Atari’s new titles, including Yars Rising, NeoSprint, Lunar Lander Beyond, qomp2, and new releases from Digital Eclipse. Our efforts secured previews and interviews with top-tier outlets such as GamesRadar+, The Mirror, Daily Mail, Rolling Stone, IGN, Game Informer, and Digital Trends.

As many of these events were firsts for the publisher, ÜberStrategist is often credited with forging these key media relationships that have evolved into long-term coverage opportunities for the Atari brand.
