Atari and Digital Eclipse, leaders in retro game preservation, partnered with ÜberStrategist to promote Tetris Forever, a collection of classic and obscure Tetris releases spanning four decades and a brand-new title, Tetris Timewarp.
ÜberStrategist was tasked with delivering a high-visibility press campaign to establish Tetris Forever as a must-own game for Tetris fans and newcomers alike. The four-month campaign spanned from the reveal to release, with plans for ongoing support thereafter.
We worked with Atari and Digital Eclipse to craft a gradual rollout to build excitement with each new announcement. The campaign included a Nintendo Direct reveal, a release of the full game list, an announcement of the new Tetris Timewarp, and a New York preview event.
While the New York event faced limited press availability due to budget and personnel constraints, it still garnered strong coverage. Atari, Digital Eclipse, and The Tetris Company all considered the rollout a success, citing widespread excitement among press and Tetris fans alike.
The Nintendo Direct reveal earned coverage from Tier 1 outlets such as IGN, Game Rant, GameSpot, CNET, Polygon, GamesRadar+, Digital Trends, Eurogamer, Ars Technica, and Destructoid. Meanwhile, the New York preview event generated impressions from GameSpot, Digital Trends, Gizmodo, and the New York Times, which wrote a larger feature on the collection.
All stakeholders, including Atari, Digital Eclipse, and The Tetris Company, were delighted with the campaign’s outcomes and the high visibility it delivered for Tetris Forever. Tetris Forever became one of the most successful campaigns for Atari and Digital Eclipse in recent memory.
